About Kristen Peet

Education:

Kristen Peet received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) in 2010. She attended UNC-CH for graduate school earning her M.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences in 2012.

Work history:

Kristen completed her Clinical Fellowship at UNC Medical Center working in inpatient rehabilitation and adult acute care. Following her fellowship, she embarked on a country-spanning journey as a traveling SLP for several years.

She returned to North Carolina to work at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. While there, she developed a deeper understanding of Trauma Informed Care and Adverse Childhood Experiences. These concepts initiated a shift toward more holistic therapeutic practices she has continued to develop and utilize.

In 2018 Kristen began working for UNC at an outpatient rehabilitation center. At this facility she worked with teens and adults with a variety of speech, language and cognitive needs related to Post Concussion Syndrome, TBI, stroke, ADHD, COVID-19 long haul symptoms, Multiple Sclerosis and various Neurological disorders.

Kristen holds current North Carolina SLP licensure and her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA. She is also a Certified Brain Injury Specialist through the Brain Injury Association of America.

Fun things:

Kristen enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling near and far, and getting lots of play and cuddle time with her cats. She is happy to call North Carolina home.
